I lead brand design and web for a company with two brands, more than sixteen web properties, and no new headcount planned until 2027. Design had become a bottleneck. Charts, tables, image crops, and branded graphics all came through my team, and they were usually due at the same time as everything else.

So instead of taking every request, I started building tools that answer them. Each tool had to pass one test: does it take work off someone's plate permanently, or does it only make me faster today?

Six are now live and in daily use across the company:

• ChartBot turns a CSV into an on-brand chart in seconds. It produced all 143 charts for our State of Destination Marketing report.
• DigiCard gives every Sojern and RateGain employee a digital business card that leads with a one-tap LinkedIn connection.
• Image Wizard lets anyone apply branded image treatments and export web-optimized files.
• Crop-O-Matic 5000 crops up to 100 hotel photos at once, across multiple aspect ratios, with subject-aware framing.
• HTML Table Generator and Press Image Builder each solve one specific, frustrating workflow problem.

Results: ChartBot has saved 60+ hours of chart production. DigiCard has created dozens of cards so far, avoiding the roughly $5 per person, per month cost that comparable tools charge. The bulk cropping tool saves our Digital Design team approximately 20 hours a month on a highly-repetitive task that could previously be only done manually. Image Wizard and the Press Image Builder have reduced website image asset requests for CMS content from multiple hours a month to zero, while creating a more brand cohesive experience for the end user.
